Gr 3-6-Elaborating on topics explored in somewhat less depth in Capstone's "Graphic Science" series starring the character Max Axiom, these volumes combine straightforward informational science texts with a graphic-novel format and comical illustrations of bug-eyed aliens, zombies, and other horror-story uglies that delineate the featured topics. In Bigfoot, for example, a large and hairy companion accompanies an oblivious Charles Darwin on his travels and poses as a tree to demonstrate "camouflage." Similarly, Aliens discusses different kinds of energy, Vampires explores how cells make up all living things, Zombies explains Newton's Laws, and Werewolves and Ghosts both cover atoms. These titles win the prize for most original approach.
