Grades 3-5 Earth can be a beautiful and mysterious place, and these titles in the Natural Phenomena series (6 titles) explain the science behind some of its most impressive natural events. Although each book includes colorful action shots, graphs, and related sidebars, the varying coverage of each topic keeps the series from taking a cookie-cutter format. Tides not only relates how this ebb and flow works but how tides can differ along coastlines. It also introduces tidal zones and some of the plants and animals that live in them. A That's Amazing! section in each volume lives up to its name with a quick, high-interest look at a unique feature, such as tidal bores and whale songs. A quiz, a glossary, and other back matter round out this series for inquisitive young minds.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
