Grades 3-5 In this latest volume, Babymouse decides to enter the science fair. She daydreams about science-fiction movies and television shows (Star Trek, The Attack of the 50-Foot Woman); fantasizes about winning the Nobel Prize; learns about the scientific method in classand then she discovers an amoeba named Squish. The book introduces this new graphic-novel series character by snazzy use of the color green, which nicely counteracts the pink hues of the rest of the book. Undoubtedly, schools and public libraries will want to keep this popular series up-to-date in their collections.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2011, American Library Association.)

Babymouse's initially reluctant foray into scientific research yields unexpected results and a new single-celled character (slated for his own spin-off graphic novel series). The series' trademark humor, relatable characters, and pink-hued fantasies shine through in this sort-of-science-minded entry.
